The varied landscape offers fascinating transitions from salt to brackish and even fresh water, resulting in the flowering of almost 300 different plant species. In spring, the green fields turn purple with the wild orchids that grow in this area.
A paradise for birdwatchers
De Kwade Hoek is a favourite refuge for birds, with numerous species finding their nesting place there. During your walk, you can observe meadow birds such as lapwing and skylark on the salt marsh, while stonechat hide in the bushes and avocet and oystercatcher linger on the plain. Look down with regularity because if you are lucky, you will see samphire and other edible plants growing.
