Kwade Hoek

In the Kwade Hoek, the sea is still supreme. You feel both small and alive when you wander along the unpaved footpaths in this area outside the dikes. Here, tide and wind make the Netherlands grow ever bigger.

The sea kisses the beach with dunes, mud flats and salt marshes. A varied landscape with interesting transitions from salt to brackish and even fresh water. With every step you take, you encounter something rare.

There are over 300 different plants and plenty of birds to discover here. Pioneer plants such as sea bindweed and sea spurge, a hunting hen harrier or nesting lapwings and skylarks. Kwade Hoek may sound terrifying, but it is beautiful here all year round.
