Fossil Expedition: XL Edition

During this expedition on Maasvlakte Beach, you won’t be searching for XL-sized fossils… but you’ll be out and about for an extra-long time! On Wednesday 5 August, join detective Walter as he searches the Maasvlakte sand for the remains of mammoths, hyenas, woolly rhinoceroses and all sorts of other animals. Put on your wellies and discover what lies hidden beneath your feet.

13.30 – 13.50: presentation in the Blue Room
13.50 – 14.00: coach ride to Maasvlakte Beach
14.00 – 17.00: fossil-hunting expedition and walk back to Portlantis.

Put your wellies on! Before the expedition, participants will receive a brief explanation of how to go about searching for fossils. During the expedition, you’ll be walking along the beach and the high-water mark. Make sure to wear wellies or other suitable footwear. Please bear in mind that there are no toilets on the beach. Don’t forget your sun cream. Please also bring your own food and drink. Alternatively, why not pop into the restaurant after the expedition?
