Vogelobservatorium 'Tij' Haringvliet
It is as if a giant tern laid an egg in De Scheelhoek nature reserve in Stellendam. In a nest of braided willow branches lies a giant egg measuring 8 by 11 metres. Hidden behind the cracks in the egg is a bird hide. A beautiful bird observatory in a perhaps even more beautiful nature reserve.
You walk there on a path that floods at high tide. So boots are recommended. From Tij, you look out over the vast Haringvliet, the delta nature and Haringvliet locks. A special Swarovski telescope offers great viewing pleasure.
On the bird nesting islands, you can see the great tern, common tern and black-headed gull. Even the white-tailed eagle makes regular visits here, while water birds steal the show in shallow waters. One big experience.
