Krammerse Slikken

The place for waders and ducks to forage: the Krammerse slikken. An area outside the dikes and a number of wooded islands surrounded by shallow water. First there was sea. After the construction of Philipsdam, the mudflats and buntings on the Krammer-Volkerak dried up. Nature adapted miraculously and now salt-bearing plants such as glasswort and sea aster grow there. Visit one of the bird-watching huts and spot gull colonies, flamingos or breeding cormorants.
