After the flood disaster, more than 800 wooden houses were donated by Norway, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Finland and France. Some of the Scandinavian houses can also be found on Goeree-Overflakkee. The construction kits came by rail and ship to the port of Rotterdam. The houses were often placed in a street or court.
