Exhibition in the Water Tower
An exhibition has been set up in the water tower by members of the ‘De Streek’ painting club and the ‘De Rarekiek’ photography club. As well as the paintings and photographs, visitors can, of course, also admire the interior of the tower. However, in the latter case, this is limited to the ground floor; climbing the tower is not permitted for safety reasons.
The ‘De Streek’ painting club consists of ten to fifteen amateur painters on Goeree-Overflakkee. The club was founded around the turn of the century by, amongst others, Jan Roedoe. The group produces a varied range of artworks, from abstract to realistic, from watercolour to oil paint, and from black and white to very colourful. A selection of their work is on display in the water tower. During the opening hours of the double exhibition, members of De Streek are regularly present, as are exhibitors from De Rarekiek, the Flakkee photography society.
