The historic village centre of Sommelsdijk is gearing up for a memorable edition of Holle Bolle Dag.
This year, the event is entirely dedicated to a special milestone: 100 years of electricity on Goeree-Overflakkee. Under the theme ‘Spannend Sommelsdijk, the village will become a place where history, light and playful technology come together.
Sommelsdijk transforms into a living stage where young and old alike can immerse themselves in a blend of tradition and spectacle. There is also lively live music.
As well as the fair and craft market, there will be, amongst other things, theatre performances on the Marktveld, guided tours of the Regional Museum and exhibitions in the churches.
This year, HolleBolleDag presents an exceptional programme featuring no fewer than eight living statues, including the reigning European Living Statues Champion, De Schoenpoetser. According to the organisers, it promises to be a ‘day full of imagery’ centred on humour, subtle facial expressions and unexpected interaction. …

The evening performances, culminating in a laser show from 22:00 to 23:00, tie in seamlessly with the exhibition ‘100 Years of Electricity on Goeree-Overflakkee’ at the Regional Museum. Whilst visitors discover there how electricity transformed daily life on the island, outside on the street they experience how technology can once again surprise, unsettle and inspire us today.
