Make your own neighbour & neighbour animated film! For groups 5 to 8. Duration 120 minutes. Takes place at school.
Animation films come in all shapes and sizes. One of those special animation techniques is 'Claymation'. In this fun and educational workshop, you will learn all about the technique behind such animation classics as 'Wallace & Grommit', 'Pengu', 'Chicken run' and 'Shaun the sheep'.
Making clay figures move is another way of animating. You first have to work the modelling clay properly before you can turn it into figures. Using iron wire, you can make good joint points to make the figures move easily.
The class is divided into small groups and each group comes up with a story. After this, they make the figures for the animation using modelling clay. The figures are then animated to create an animated film. The films can be watched afterwards.
Core objectives
The pupils learn to use animation film to communicate. This allows them to translate subjects as they perceive them through a digital tool. They gain some knowledge and appreciation of aspects of storytelling.
In addition to the aforementioned aspects, they acquire animation film skills and techniques in an exploratory phase. In addition, they learn to deal with new media, such as tablets and iPads. Pupils learn to look differently at their surroundings, as well as improving their sensory perceptions. (core objectives 54 and 55)
